That's when we become a team

Had our first comp yesterday! :) I forgot the rush you get before you perform!

As your behind the curtains and can hear the base of the speakers pounding in your chest, as the butterflies are getting stronger. The scent of glitter and hairspray is rich in the air. The crazy cheer parents living thru their children and dressing in every team color possible. The roar of the crowd is deafening. You barely hear your coaches pep talk.

But the moment when you walk thru the curtains and stand in a circle holding hands with your team, thinking of everything it took to get to this moment- every painful, exhausting, fun, loud, and bond forming practice, that's the moment when it all becomes worth it.

The gut dropping feeling you get when they announce your teams name. The moment comes when it's your turn to take center mat. As you rally on the floor, you feel the spring floor underneath your feet, and you channel every ounce of nerves into adrenaline. Your jumps soar- your facials are out of control- and your spirit is undefinable.

The great feeling you get after hitting a stunt! The power you have after landing your jumps. The knowing that almost 500 eyes are watching you at that moment- but only 6 of the eyes you have to impress.

Were we ready yesterday? Not as much as we would of wanted to be. But were we determined yesterday? With all our hearts.

The past 3 weeks we have lost 3 team members- had 5 people sick- redone the routine twice and then switched back to the original.

We didn't perform a flawless routine. But we were doing what we loved. We were a team on that floor. And there's a bond between us that only comes after putting your blood, sweat, and tears (literally) into every practice and performance. And that's when we become a team.
